never underestimate this pledge.
even though they're just words but they meant a lot.
after much bloodshed, our former deputy prime minister
also known as one of Singapore's founding fathers,
Mr S. Rajaratnam penned this pledge down.
after reading the newspaper today, i found out more about him.
he was a tower of strength to all around him,
he was calm and quiet in demeanour,
he was courageous.
nevertheless, his most enduring legacy is our National Pledge
a pledge we recited every day in school
and as we recite them, we are reminded to
live up to our aspirations as Mr S. Rajaratnam expressed them.
he was a man much worth my respect.
alright, time for what happened td
or rather this morning.
i overslept for tuition :X
sister came and shouted
"ZOE, TEN PLUS ALR TEN PLUS ALR!"
and i woke up with shock.
first time in my entire life, i skipped tuition.
called mummy and she somehow scolded me through the phone.
another boring day without tuition.
rejoice? yay?
i doubt so.
read the newspaper after i woke up
and i came to realise that the pledge
we have been reciting since primary schl was written
by a great man, Mr S. Rajaratnam.
this week, i was the pledge taker for the morning assembly in schl.
and as a pledge taker, i asked myself
if i took the pledge taking ceremony seriously?
did i say the pledge with pride?
all this questions jus came into my mind liddat.
if i were given one more chance to do it again,
i will do it with more pride and more respect.
okay, this is my reflection for this week.
blog later if i had the time.
haven read finish my papers
so till then, newspapers (:

"We, the citizens of Singapore,
pledge ourselves as one united people,
regardless of race, language or religion
to build a democratic society
based on justice and equally
so as to achieve happiness, prosperity
and progress for our nation."
